We were invited to create the giant flower decor for the wedding of the granddaughter of Saudi Arabia’s first king, at the Al Faisaliah Hotel in Riyadh. The bride’s mother wanted a contemporary art gallery, not just a party, and brought together artists from several countries. The Jacque Benevides atelier was the one chosen from Brazil. In total, we produced 9,000 handmade giant flowers. In the main ballroom, 45 giant flowers measuring 3 meters (10 ft) across formed a flowering sky. A 90-meter (295 ft) curved wall held more than 400 white giant organza flowers, and guests walked beneath a rain of hanging flowers. The project took 8 months of production, 1.5 tons of materials shipped from Brazil and 45 days of work in Riyadh.
